Back from Greenland - straight to the SCAR Biology conference...

Back from a short fieldwork visit to the Arctic Station in Disko Island, Greenland, and now traveling straight to the XII SCAR Biology conference in Leuven, Belgium..

During my stay at Disko Island I sampled various terrestrial samples and joined Ludovica D'Imperio and Lena in the field measuring in situ gas fluxes and root growth under various climate-related treatments. We worked in Blæsedalen, a valley close to the station. I was amazed at how lush the tundra is here compared to e.g. Svalbard or the Antarctic.

Many thanks to the
Center for Permafrost (CENPERM) at the University of Copenhagen for making this stay possible! It's been an amazing visit - my first experience with the nature and culture of Greenland - but hopefully not my last :) I learned a lot and have many new ideas for future projects..
